"Prineceton [sic] U. Student Charged"

Article yesterday afternoon about a Princeton student's mishaps under the influence of alcohol. Sad news, but must we pry so? Is it our business what trouble people get into (or don't) when they've been drinking? Moreover, is it really anyone's business what school this student goes to? The comments to this article are quite harsh. I detect a note of jealousy.

You've got to be kidding me, Lillian. "Mishaps"? She was charged with assault for hitting a nurse. And yes, given the recent debate over the eating clubs, it does matter if Princeton students are getting so drunk that they're assaulting people.

I disagree, anon. This incident wouldn't get this sort of attention if it was a random Jane Doe. And yes, the comments in the article probably do betray a bit of jealousy.

Last time I checked, Lillian, this is just what journalists do. She's over age 18 and responsible for her actions and can therefore have all sorts of details about her life published, including her name and where she goes to college.

So... does the Prince plan on reporting this in a web-update?

Some of the comments in the article are harsh, but that isn't the article writer's fault. "Princeton" is probably included just to add some depth (because, really, how interesting could this story be without that tidbit?) When you run out of things to talk about, you grab what you can. Like this article.
